U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro, the former Fox News host now serving as a top DOJ official, announced Monday that a woman has been arrested for threatening President Donald Trump. \u201cAn individual by the name of Nathalie Rose Jones is now in custody, charged with two federal crimes for knowingly and willfully threatening to take the life of the President of the United States,\u201d Pirro said in a social media clip.<\/p>\n
Pirro explained that Jones, 50, of Lafayette, Indiana, traveled from New York to Washington, D.C., where she continued making threats on Facebook and Instagram. \u201cShe called the president a terrorist and was working to have him eliminated. She is now in custody and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,\u201d Pirro said. Her office confirmed that Jones was arrested in D.C. on August 16 and charged in U.S. District Court with threatening to kill, kidnap, or harm the president, as well as transmitting threats in interstate commerce. Pirro emphasized the severity of the offense, praising law enforcement and Secret Service agents for protecting national leaders.<\/p>\n
Court documents show that between August 2 and 15, Jones\u2014using the Instagram handle \u201cnath.jones\u201d\u2014posted multiple threats against Trump, calling for his removal, labeling him a terrorist, and criticizing his handling of the coronavirus pandemic. On August 6, she allegedly told the FBI she was willing to \u201csacrificially kill this POTUS\u201d with a bladed object. She continued posting threats online, including messages to Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth requesting Trump\u2019s \u201carrest and removal ceremony.\u201d During two voluntary interviews with the Secret Service, Jones admitted to making the threats, called Trump a \u201cterrorist\u201d and a \u201cNazi,\u201d and described her intent to carry out the threats. Following a protest march near the White House on August 16, she was arrested and acknowledged ownership of the threatening social media accounts, according to DOJ officials.<\/p>\n
