The officers did not need me to say anything. They took the lease from my mother\u2019s hands, compared the pasted signature to my identification, and asked her one question, whether she had ever seen me sign that document. She could not answer it, because I never had, and the university financial-aid form the signature was lifted from was still in the folder underneath it, which told the whole story on its own.
