My friend had known it was coming, because she was the one my mother-in-law\u2019s own lawyer had contacted the week before, asking about transferring a deed, not realizing she was a friend of mine. I sat at the table and let my mother-in-law make her whole speech about formalities, and about how my husband understood finances better than I did.
