During the salad course at my son\u2019s wedding reception, the venue manager crouched beside my chair. He apologized and explained that a card connected to the reservation had been declined, leaving a $34,000 balance. I had paid for the rehearsal dinner by check, and I had never given this venue a card. Then he showed me the name on the account. It was mine. Worse, the venue had a copy of my driver\u2019s license from nine months earlier.<\/p>\n
