Made from a buildup of\u00a0dead cells, food debris, mucus, and bacteria<\/strong>, these formations calcify over time, resulting in a gritty, foul-smelling lump often discovered unexpectedly \u2014 like after coughing or sneezing.<\/p>\n

These stones typically look like small grains of rice or popcorn and often carry a\u00a0strong odor<\/strong>\u00a0due to sulfur-producing bacteria. While many go unnoticed, larger ones can cause\u00a0bad breath, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, ear pain, and a sensation of something stuck<\/strong>\u00a0in your throat.<\/p>\n
